The department of burns was founded in 1958, the ward of which Belonged to General surgery professional at that time. In 1976, plastic surgery after burn was formally established, and it was the doctoral training unit of burn surgery and plastic surgery of the medical college of Shandong university. In 2012, the subject was commented as national burn clinical key specialty. There are 92 medical staffs including 24 doctors, 68 nurses and 96 hospital beds in the department. The department is The second, third, fourth, and fifth member units of The Chinese medical association Burn surgery branch ,and it is the Seventh ,eighth Standing Committee unit. It is the director member units every period of the Burn plastic surgery branch in Shandong province medical association.

　　In 1978, the department won "the national advanced collective in medicine and health care” "The basic research and clinical applications of Diagnosis and treatment in hemangioma and vascular malformation(2013)" “The study in nerve construct of tissue of human body health skin and scar(2011)”and son on altogether 5 studies respectively won the second prize of Shandong province scientific and technological progress in the national medical health science meeting, and "the change of burn shock lymph circulation endotoxin, inflammatory factors and ultrastructure (2009)" The clinical application of "thin fat full thickness skin(1991)." altogether 4 studies respectively won the third prize of Shandong province science and technology progress.”The effects of High-voltage burn to serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase and the Reason discussion" and "The clinical observation of undermine coal dust explosion injury" won the second prize of excellent academic achievements of natural science in Shandong province respectively.

　　Since 1998, the independent innovation project "The grinding scabs method in the period of shock treats serious II degree burn wounds" has firstly carried out in the country, and has cured thousands of patients. In recent years, it has gotten eight projects such as the national natural science foundation projects, and over 20 articles were published on SCI, ang collected more than 100 articles on core journals.
