Heart vascular surgery department is the first master doctoral training units in Shandong province. It is the first batch of key disciplines of health system in Shandong province and the first group of specialist training base, as well as national clinical key specialty. There are 87 conventional sickbeds, 23 guardianship beds, two units, equipped with two modern ICU.

　　Technical force is abundant within the department. It took the lead in the application of Bentall surgery to treat marfan's syndrome in the province in 1986 and took the lead in the application of vascular coated stents in treatment of thoracic aortic aneurysms and interlayer separation in 2000. In 2001, it took the lead in ultrasound guided by minimally invasive thoracic esophagus congenital atrial septum defect closure and achieved success in the province. It carried out complex congenital heart disease surgery for newborns, infants and young children less than 5 kg in 2002. In 2003, the province took the lead in the ascending aorta and aortic arch replacement and stent trunk surgical treatment of aortic dissection successfully. Successfully implemented arterial switch for completely type of aorta transposition with ventricular sepal defect and pulmonary hypertension of children (2 months old) in 2004. In the same year, took the lead to develop modified Maze surgery III (that is, the improvement of legal Maze cutting seam III surgery) and radiofrequency ablation Maze III surgical treatment of heart valve disease combined atrial fibrillation within the province. The first heart transplant was very successful on June 29, 2005. The annual outpatient amounted to more than 10000 people, and more than 2100 surgical operation annually. Surgical operation difficulty and quantity are the top of Shandong province and top 15 in the country. The minimally invasive closure treatment of congenital heart disease is up to international advanced level. The complex congenital heart disease doesn’t sto coronary artery bypass surgery, and a large clinical diagnosis and treatment of vascular disease reached domestic advanced level and the leading level in the province. At the moment, the department bears 3 national natural science foundation project, 1 national clinical project, and 6 items of the provincial level topic.
