Rare diseases are a large group of diseases with a very low incidence and they are mostly hereditary. Although the number of patients is small, there are many kinds of rare diseases, most of which are hereditary, with different clinical symptoms and pathogenic mechanisms. At present, there are more than 7000 kinds of rare diseases recognized internationally. HR is a group of rare diseases characterized by hypophosphatemia, which is caused by increased renal phosphorus excretion due to congenital or acquired causes. It has a high rate of disability and teratogenicity, and is listed No.51in the first Rare Diseases Catalogue.

HR involves cooperation from many departments and requires a combination of medical and surgical treatment. As the leading institution of the National Rare Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Collaboration Network in Shandong province, Shandong Provincial Hospital took the lead in setting up a multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment center for HR in China. The center is chaired by the endocrine team with President Zhao Jiajun as leader. The team includes Wang Yanzhou, Chief Surgeon of Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery, Xu Chao, Chief Physician of Endocrinology, Jia Yifang, Chief Physicians of Genetics, Li Guimei,Chief Physicians of Pediatric Endocrinology and Sun Yan, Deputy Chief Physicians of Pediatric Endocrinology who can cooperate and formulate scientific consultation opinions according to the patient condition and treatment effect to provide medical services.

Multidisciplinary integrated diagnosis and treatment can overcome the deficiency of single discipline diagnosis and treatment, and comprehensively make the most effective and feasible treatment plan based on the results of biochemical examination, genetic examination, imaging evaluation of patients and multidisciplinary consultation. So patients can avoid visiting doctors from multiple departments.
