　　The National Center for Capacity Building and Continuing Education of the National Health Commission and the Dementia and Cognitive Disorders Group of the Neurology Society of the Chinese Medical Association respectively rewarded Shandong Provincial Hospital Affiliated to Shandong First Medical University (Shandong Provincial Hospital) the National Cognitive Disorders Specialty Capacity Building Project and the Cognitive Disorders Diagnosis and Treatment Demonstration Center Construction Project. The hospital has become a full member and one of the first national advanced demonstration centers for the diagnosis and treatment of cognitive impairment.

　　As the population ages in China, cognitive impairment diseases represented by alzheimer's disease and vascular cognitive impairment show a frequent and accelerated growth trend. In order to slow down the occurrence of dementia and cognitive impairment, the National Health Commission issued the Work Plan for Exploring the Characteristic Services for the Prevention and Treatment of Senile Dementia in 2020, which required that the popular science awareness rate of cognitive impairment should reach 80%, and the cognitive function screening rate of the elderly in the community (village) 80%. The work plan has clarified and improved the prevention and intervention model with patient self-management, family management, community management and hospital management.

　　In line with the policy trend and medical needs, the Center for Capacity Building and Continuing Education of National Health Commission has formed a project expert group in neurology and cognitive disorders in China. It at the same time launched a project for capacity building of cognitive disorders specialists to help standardize cognitive departments in hospitals at all levels to form the effective process from screening, assessment, treatment to management.

　　As for the cognitive impairment specialty capacity building, a standardized capacity building model suitable for the characteristics of cognitive impairment will be established in turn, and it will connect the diagnosis and treatment of cognitive impairments..

　　The capacity building of cognitive impairment specialty will improve the standardized diagnosis and treatment system of cognitive impairment specialty in China and meet the needs of prevention and treatment services for cognitive impairment. As the training system of cognitive impairment was established and improved, specialists can actively respond to the aging population. It also provides an information and network platform for clinical research, quality control and popular science publicity of cognitive disorders.

　　Initiated by the Dementia and Cognitive Impairment Group of the Neurology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, the Cognitive Impairment Diagnosis and Treatment Demonstration Center Construction Project aims to gradually promote and guide the construction of regional and community-level centers through the establishment of national standardized cognitive impairment diagnosis and treatment centers. National centers are responsible for establishing management standards for the cognition diseases, multidisciplinary collaboration, precise diagnosis and treatment, and research and development of new diagnostic and therapeutic methods, while regional and community-level centers are responsible for community cognitive screening, patient referral, patient education and chronic disease management, especially in the process of diagnosis and treatment of various chronic diseases. The project aims to establish a comprehensive treatment concept of chronic diseases combined with early detection and intervention of cognitive problems, form a three-level prevention and treatment service network of cognitive diagnosis and treatment, build a data platform for diagnosis and treatment management, set a quality control system for cognitive impairment diagnosis and treatment, and realize the comprehensive management of clinical and research information.

　　The project will be implemented in stages at all levels to explore a more standardized, feasible and efficient management model for cognitive impairment, create a "turning point of cognitive impairment" in China, and improve the overall level of diagnosis and treatment of cognitive impairment in China. The Department of Neurology of the Shandong Provincial Hospital became one of the first national advanced demonstration centers for the diagnosis and treatment of cognitive impairment.
